Luxor Fine Jewelry

For most diamond, gold, and platinum jewelry, add 1–2 pumps of mild dish soap to a small bowl of lukewarm water. 

Let your jewelry soak for 10–15 minutes, then gently clean around the stones and setting with a soft toothbrush.

Rinse carefully and pat dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.

While cleaning, take a moment to look at your prongs and settings. If a stone feels loose or anything looks different, stop by and let us take a look.

Please note: Not every gemstone should be soaked or cleaned this way. Pearls, opals, emeralds, turquoise, and other delicate or treated stones may require special care.

A few habits can help keep your fine jewelry protected and sparkly.

Remove your jewelry before:

• exercising or playing sports
  
• swimming
  
• gardening
  
• heavy cleaning or household work
  
• using bleach, chlorine, or other harsh chemicals
  

We also recommend putting jewelry on after lotions, perfumes, and beauty products whenever possible.

Store pieces separately when possible to prevent scratching and tangling.

Soft pouches, lined jewelry boxes, and individual compartments work well. Chains should be fastened before storage to help prevent knots.

Diamonds, sapphires & rubies: Generally durable, but settings and treatments should still be considered before cleaning.

Emeralds: Often treated and naturally included. Avoid ultrasonic cleaning unless a jeweler has evaluated the stone first.

Opals: Sensitive to heat, sudden temperature changes, and harsh cleaning methods. Clean gently with a soft, damp cloth.

Pearls: Wipe gently after wear with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid soaking, ultrasonic cleaning, perfumes, and chemicals.

Turquoise, lapis & porous gemstones: Avoid soaking and harsh cleaners. These stones can absorb moisture and chemicals.

When in doubt, bring the piece in before cleaning it at home.

If a piece feels loose, catches unexpectedly, has a damaged clasp, worn prongs, or simply doesn’t look the way it once did, bring it in.
